Jess and Jen recently came up for a quick visit. Although the wind and snow were somewhat of a damper, the warm hearts and warm hands made it a March 29th trip for the ages :)

Here are the lovely girlies, polishing off one of 5 different plates at our lovely Lethbridge buffet. (I am not sure the 5 plates included the deserts)

This is a little picture of my new “ride”. Here is to saving the earth while saving on the gas.  To bad it is so windy here :)

It is so nice to have my baby home :)

The Fabled Office

Well, I have been promising for some time to send some of you pictures from my new home, the office. Seeing as I have been spending an average of 10 to 11 hours a day here, I thought that perhaps it would be beneficial to document the journey with all of you. Thus, if you are willing, I would like to invite you along on a journey into my office with me.
Allow me to set the stage. It is roughly 9 in the evening. It is a perfect time to get some work done around the office. After several buildings and tunnels, I read the eighth floor of U-Hall, and turn to A block. Suddenly the sign strikes us…

We turn into the administrative hall, and notice the lights are already on, and the door to my office is open. It is obviously inviting you in. It isn’t polite to refuse such an invitation.

Immediately, you notice the fancy mini fridge and teli for all my personal needs (the x-box is hidden from view ☺ ). The white board with horribly written Arabic likewise graces the wall.

Next your eyes are pulled toward the actual desk. Unfortunately, it is evening, and the view is somewhat blurred by the gripping darkness of Lethbridge.

Finally, your eyes rest upon the bookcase. If you look carefully, you will notice the mounds of ramen noodles and chunky soups staked on two of the shelves, next to delicious tea. I wish I could bring more of my library from home, but then I would have to pack it all up again, and that is no fun.

What is this? It is morning already, and the sun is out? Well, we had better enjoy the view from the window.

I hope this gives you all an idea of the joys of my daily existence lately. Until we meet again, dear friends and family, Love you all!

This Christmas, much to the displeasure of his loving mother, Asher joined the illustrious brotherhood of those who bleed blue, due, in large part, to his loving uncle. His excitement was unbridled as he ripped into his first Christmas gift ever.

While the joy of his mother was not readily forthcoming…

… the little man wore his colors with pride. Fortunately for Asher, his parents allowed this brief foray into the wonderful world of national pride.

A true LEAFS FAN FOR LIFE! Bleed Blue, Young Man, Bleed Blue :)

Here are a few pictures from our day at the beautiful St. George temple. What a beautiful family we have :)

During the first Christmas together, Grand-dad Doug and Son-in-law to be, Nathaniel shared a moment of footsie under the diner table, beyond the accusing eyes of others in attendance.  Now, eight years on, this Christmas time tradition has finally come out of the closet :)

It has been a while since I have last posted on this site, and for that I apologize. At least I have a wonderful excuse this time, beyond the usual suspects of flu, mumps and pneumonia: Christmas time with the family! Thus, in anticipation of the coming posts and pictures, I decided to place one of the fantastic shots I got while hiking in Snow Canyon with some of the family on Christmas Day!

img_0552.jpg

Another large first was accomplished today in my life. I was walking in the snow, downtown, after a refreshing steamed milk, and came across a “fair trade” shop, here in Lethbridge, which I had never come across before. Straightaway I went inside, to discover, to my delight, a wonderful assortment of fabulous nick knacks.

I happened to stumble across my very first creche. I knew it was mine, as it was calling my name. I thought it would be fun to share it with the family. Maffers first Christmas tree and first creche in one week :)

And then I noticed that if I lay at the base of the tree, with the yummy cinnamon sticks in my nose, and looked up, there was a whole new exciting view for me to enjoy, and I thought perhaps you would like to enjoy it as well.

Merry Christmas!!!!

img_0241.jpg

I have officially lived on my own for seven years now, and for whatever reason, I have never actually decorated my own home. Ever. This is a tragedy. Today, I correct this massive oversight. This little gem is my first Christmas tree. A Christmas tree photo shoot would not be complete without the grand finale immortalized.

img_0245.jpg

This is the completed tree. I may look a little to happy about the whole project, but this was my first attempt. I think I may be justified in having a slight love affair with “o tannenbaum”. And here is one more quick picture of the lovely thing :)

But a Christmas tree was not all we put together…

Finally, no Christmas could possibly be complete without the roar of a fire.

Merry Christmas :)
